What is the Look Back Challenge?

The Look Back Challenge is a photography challenge for all kinds of toy collectors in which they are prompted to post only about toys and collectibles they already own, and refrain from posting about any new purchases for the entire month. This is to combat the FOMO and impulse buying tendencies that often take over collecting spaces. Collectors are often pressured to only post about the newest, hot item they've acquired. This is a challenge aimed to push back against consumerist acquisition culture. It also exists to give collectors a chance to show off items they adore, but maybe don't post about very much as they feel they need a "reason" too. We shouldn't need a reason! Let's show off the things we love!

Rules

You can only post items you had prior to the start of the challenge.

Abstaining from buying things entirely during this month is optional, but encouraged.

If you do buy something, please refrain from posting about it until the month is over.

Custom toys and home made items are allowed.

Newly made customs are allowed, if they were made from things you already had prior to the challenge starting.

You do not have to follow the prompt list to take part in the challenge, but it's there if you'd like some ideas.

If you are following the prompt list, you may interpret a prompt however you see fit. There is no right answer.

This is not a contest, and I am not judging submissions.

I may add to this rules list as questions and issues come up.

My G3 Clawdeen reroot is finally done! I used an auburn/brown blend of saran with some brunette saran underneath and near the front, thanks to customdollhairau. I then curled it with pipe cleaners and let her soak in boiling water until cool. I'm really pleased it created the style I was after and it's still so soft and shiny! Much better than that awful poly she came with! I put her back in her og outfit for now, with the addition of a Disney ILY4Ever headband which I think really works for her. Hopefully I can find something more fun for her to wear once I get my doll space together!

I love you, humanity. I love your petty squabbles and drive to make new things to settle them. I love watching minor drama about very specific antique dolls. this is something worth fighting for, somehow
